A child stands with his monkey at a railway station.
Topeng monyet is a form of street entertainment using monkeys to perform tricks with music. These children divided into several groups often roamed about in several train station in the greater areas of Jakarta perfoming the act of Topeng Monyet to earn a living.

Even though the government has recently freed education to the public, many of these children still roam the streets because many of their parents are struggling to survive as beggars and has little time to look out after their children.

Pose seekor monyet di stasiun Depok Baru. 
Anak-anak topeng monyet banyak berkeliaran di beberapa stasiun kereta rute Jabotabek (Jakarta Bogor Tangerang Bekasi). Mereka terbagi dalam beberapa kelompok, beberapa diantaranya suka mangkal di daerah sekitar stasiun Depok. 
Walaupun sekarang pemerintah sudah membebaskan biaya pendidikan bagi Sekolah Dasar Negeri, tetapi mereka tetap saja berkeliaran dan tidak bersekolah karena kurangnya pengawasan dan perhatian dari orang tua.

Born in Yogyakarta, graduate from Indonesian Art Institute, Yogyakarta. Have a skill specification in fashion photography. Shoot in Berlin, Milan, Singapore, Paris, Netherlands and several famous countries.
Have a several fashion photography exhibition with Hari Subastian, Edhi Tirtha Yudha, M Eka Chandra, Adi Nugroho, Yuniardi Prasetyanto, Nurulita, Davi Linggar, Moreno, etc.

Hadi Cahyono (30), salah satu staf fotografer andalan di majalah Cosmopolitan and Harpers Bazzaar Indonesia. Sudah bekerja pada majalah ini semenjak tahun 2001. 
Mahir menggunakan lighting dan mempunyai spesifikasi keahlian dalam fotografi fashion. Pernah melakukan pemotretan fashion di Berlin, Milan, Singapore, Paris, Belanda dan beberapa negara terkenal lainnya. 
Lahir di Yogyakarta, sarjana fotografi S1 lulusan Institut Seni Indonesia, Yogyakarta. Beberapa kali melakukan pameran foto fashion bersama Hari Subastian, Edhi Tirtha Yudha, M Eka Chandra, Adi Nugroho, Yuniardi Prasetyanto, Nurulita, Davi Linggar, Moreno, dll.

Already 5 years lead in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta.
He feel more close to community and environment, that's why he choose relaxed style. Occasionally, in his office pak Agus put off his shoes and use  sandals.

Seorang lurah di daerah Jakarta Barat, Agus Sulaiman (44). Sudah hampir 5 tahun memimpin pemerintahan di daerah Tanjung Duren Selatan. Untuk mendekatkan diri kepada masyarakat dan lingkungan, ia lebih memilih menjadi lurah dengan gaya yang santai. Terkadang di kantornya pak Agus melepas sepatunya dan lebih memilih untuk mengenakan sandal karena suhu udara yang panas. Pemotretan dilakukan di ruangan kantor tempat pak Agus bekerja.

Portrait of Mr. Kosim (43), a train master in his office room. Everyday, he have to check the train traffic route in Senen railway station. Work in train station as a public officer is very tired, six days a week and must divide the working hours to three shift a day, made pak Kosim only had one day to rest. Sometime, if the lebaran day, occasionally he did’nt get a holiday.

Potret pak Kosim (43), seorang kepala stasiun Senen, di ruangan kerjanya. 
Pekerjaan yang dilakukan setiap hari oleh pak Kosim adalah mengecek kelancaran traffic jalur masuk dan keluarnya kereta di Stasiun Senen. Bekerja di stasiun sebagai sarana publik sangat melelahkan, selama enam hari seminggu dan harus membagi jam kerja menjadi tiga shift sehari, membuat pak Kosim hanya memiliki satu hari libur untuk beristirahat. Sementara jika hari lebaran tiba, terkadang pak Kosim tidak mendapatkan libur.

In each block in Tanjung Priuk port have divide into certain group. Each group had the territory when they worked to contained the thing. Mr. Karyo one of the Betawi group, in pier 007, Tanjung Priuk port.
He worked more often in shift the morning, usually every time at 06 o'clock. The whole labourers gathered in the quay to see how many the work today from counting the number of ships and trucks that would loading.

Pose seorang kuli borongan asal Pekalongan, Pak Karyo (47). Di setiap blok di pelabuhan Tanjung Priuk mempunyai kelompok penguasa tertentu. Setiap kelompok mempunyai teritori dan batas wilayah tersendiri ketika mereka bekerja sebagai tukang bongkar muat barang. Pak Karyo bergabung dengan kelompok Betawi, di dermaga 007, Tanjung Priuk.
Ia bekerja lebih sering di shift pagi. Biasanya setiap jam 06.00 para kuli borongan berkumpul di dermaga untuk melihat berapa banyak pekerjaan hari ini dari menghitung banyaknya kapal dan truk-truk yang akan loading.

Ahli spesialis pengecat handphone, Perry Tumewu (34).
Ayah dari dua orang anak, suami dari seorang istri, penganut agama yang sangat taat, dermawan dan selalu melakukan kegiatan berderma di gereja di daerah Petojo, Jakarta Barat. Perry ternasuk nomor dua terhebat di profesinya sebagai pengecat handphone, langganannya banyak berdatangan dari semua penjuru kota Jakarta, Mulai dari ITC Roxy Mas, Mal Ambasador, ITC Permata Hijau, Roxy Square sampai kepada sindikat pedagang handphone bekas yang merekondisi handphone lama menjadi handphone baru. Sekali mengecat handphone biasanya ia mencharge kliennya dengan harga yang bervariatif, dari mulai Rp 50.000 sampai dengan Rp 250.000 untuk setiap order pengecatan. Dalam sehari ia bisa menyelesaikan 5 buah jenis pengecatan bodi handphone.

Twice a day, three times a week Saras must practise for the archery championship in December 2006.
Saras, one of the athletes that was in tested to the match with the level like Sea Games in 2007.

Pose seorang atlet panahan wanita, Saras (21), di lapangan olahraga panahan Senayan, Jakarta Pusat. Dua kali sehari, tiga kali dalam seminggu, setiap jam 08.00 dan 15.30, Saras harus berlatih untuk persiapan melewati proses eliminasi kejuaraan panahan terbuka tingkat nasional di bulan Desember 2006. 
Saras termasuk salah satu atlet yang sedang di ujicobakan untuk memasuki pertandingan dengan jenjang yang lebih berkelas seperti Sea Games di tahun 2007.

Work as the seller of plastic, mak Ijan or called ibu Sriwati (65) normally sold his merchandise around the Istiqlal mosque. Apart from could get the blessing and fortune, mak Ijan also tried to complete her  religious pray when she sell plactic in the fasting month.
She don’t like if people call her as a beggar, although mak Ijan  have been caught by kamtib.

Bekerja sebagai penjual plastik, mak Ijan atau biasa dipanggil ibu Sriwati (65) biasa menjual dagangannya di sekitar masjid Istiqlal. Selain bisa mendapatkan berkah dan rezeki, mak Ijan juga berusaha menyempurnakan ibadahnya dengan selalu berada dekat dengan lingkungan masjid selama bulan puasa.
Walaupun mak Ijan pernah beberapa kali di tangkap oleh Kamtib, dirinya selalu tidak mau disebut sebagai pengemis atau gembel.

The extreme sport lover, always passed his days with music, made Mas Bin aka Kurniawan Saputra (29) chose ipod as gadget that he brought everday when he ride his bicycle. Apart from to eliminate the bored feeling when travelling, Mas Bin claimed chose ipod as some gadget that was enough influenced mood, adrenaline and the speed when driving the bicycle.
Since he graduated from Fine Arts faculty in Jakarta Institute of the Arts majoring in graphic design, Mas Bin now worked as an Art Director in Indonesian film industries and advertising agency in Jakarta.

Pecinta olah raga ekstrem, selalu mengisi hari-harinya denganmusik, membuat mas Bin aka Kurniawan Saputra (29) memilih IPOD sebagai gadget yang ia bawa sebagai teman dalam bersepeda sehari-hari. 
Selain untuk menghilangkan rasa bosan ketika berkendara, Mas Bin mengaku memilih ipod sebagai salah satu gadget yang cukup mempengaruhi mood, adrenaline dan kecepatan ketika mengendarai sepeda. 
Mahasiswa lulusan jurusan Seni Rupa Institut Kesenian Jakarta dengan mayor studi grafis murni ini sekarang bekerja sebagai penata artistik untuk film-film layar lebar dan advertising agency di Jakarta.
